Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about ShareGlo — connecting, security, plans, and platforms.
Getting started
What is ShareGlo?
ShareGlo is a remote-desktop platform for Windows and macOS. From one computer you can see another machine's screen live, take full mouse and keyboard control, transfer files, sync the clipboard, and reach your own devices unattended — all over a fast, encrypted connection.
What do I need to get started?
Create a free account and install the ShareGlo Viewer on the computer you'll work from. To reach a machine when nobody is in front of it, install the ShareGlo Host on that machine too.
Is ShareGlo free to use?
Yes. The Basic plan is free and lets you reach up to 3 of your own machines for personal use, with no credit card required. Paid plans add commercial use, longer sessions, more devices, and team management.
What's the difference between the Viewer and the Host?
The Viewer is the app you control from — it lists your devices and lets you start sessions. The Host is installed on a computer you want to reach later, so you can connect to it unattended, with no one at the keyboard.
Connecting & sessions
How do I connect to another computer?
Open the Viewer and sign in. Pick a device from your list and click to connect, or enter a one-time session code to support someone live.
What's the difference between attended and unattended access?
Attended access is live support: the person at the remote machine shares a session code and is present during the session. Unattended access lets you connect to a registered device any time, even when nobody is there — ideal for your own computers and servers.
Do I need to install anything on the remote computer?
For one-off live support, the other person just runs the Viewer and shares a session code — no permanent install needed. For unattended access, install the Host on the remote machine once.
How does ShareGlo connect — is it peer-to-peer?
When the network allows, ShareGlo connects you directly, peer-to-peer, for the lowest latency. If a direct path isn't possible, it falls back automatically to an encrypted edge relay. Either way the link runs over QUIC.
Why use a session code instead of sharing an ID and password?
One-time session codes are safer than reusing a fixed ID and password: they're short-lived and tied to a single session, so there's no standing credential to leak or guess.
Can I work across multiple monitors?
Yes. You can switch between every display on the remote machine, and multi-monitor support is included on all plans — there's no per-monitor licensing.
Can I transfer files and share the clipboard?
Yes. A dual-pane file browser lets you move files in both directions, and the clipboard syncs between your machine and the remote host.
Security & privacy
How secure is ShareGlo?
Sessions are encrypted in transit over QUIC, each account allows a single active login to limit credential sharing, and admins can apply per-device policies. Business plans add audit logs so every connection is accountable.
Is my session encrypted?
Yes. Screen, input, and file-transfer data all travel over an encrypted QUIC transport.
Can I see who connected to my devices?
On Business plans, audit logs record who connected to which device and when, so you always have an accountable history.
Can I limit what someone can do in a session?
Yes. Admins can disable clipboard sync, file transfer, or remote input on a per-device basis using device policies.
Why can't I see the Windows lock screen or UAC prompts?
On Windows, the secure desktop — the lock screen and UAC elevation prompts — can't be captured for technical reasons. We surface this openly rather than hide it; the rest of the desktop streams normally.
Plans & billing
Which plan is right for me?
Basic is free for reaching your own machines. Pro suits freelancers and power users who need the full toolkit and commercial use. Business adds shared seats and central administration. Enterprise offers concurrent, channel-based licensing for IT teams and MSPs.
Can I use ShareGlo for commercial work?
Commercial use is included on the Pro plan and above. The free Basic plan is for personal use.
How does Enterprise concurrent licensing work?
Instead of paying per person, you pay for the number of simultaneous connections (channels). Everyone on your team can have an account, and you're only billed for how many connect at once — with SSO, audit logs and dedicated support included.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Paid plans can be cancelled at any time and stay active until the end of your billing period.
Platforms & troubleshooting
Which operating systems does ShareGlo support?
Native Host and Viewer apps run on Windows 10 and 11 and on macOS 12 and later.
The computer I want to reach shows as offline — what should I do?
Make sure the machine is powered on, connected to the internet, and that the ShareGlo Host is installed and running. Once it reconnects to the cloud it will appear online in your device list.
How do I keep ShareGlo up to date?
The apps update themselves automatically, so you're always on the latest version with the newest fixes and features.
